Rank Structure Of The Rebel Alliance Navy

For this campaign, all characters will hold rank in the Rebel Alliance Navy. This will require your character to engage in such formalities as saying "sir" when addressing your superiors and wearing a Rebel Alliance uniform. If for some reason you should happen to create a character whose personality would conflict in situations such as those mentioned, the GM can assume no responsibility for any injury or death which may occur.

A character's rank is computed at the time of the first adventure, and is to be witnessed by the GM. First look at his scholar skill which is under the knowledge attribute. If your scholar greater than or equal to 3D+1, your character will be allowed to choose between becoming a commissioned officer or a non-commissioned officer. If your scholar skill is 3D or less, then you have no choice other than becomming a non-commissioned officer. However, just because your scholar is greater than or equal to 3D+1, doesn't mean that you HAVE to become a commissioned officer.

NOTE: The ONLY exception to this rule are characters who are pilots. In this campaign, ALL PILOTS ARE COMMISSIONED OFFICERS. End of discussion. I will not have you military know-it-alls try to run my campaign and tell me how Warrant Officers do 90% of the flying. New rule, all Warrant Officers are beastiphiliacs, and will not be allowed in my campaign.

Once you have determined if your character will be an officer or an NCO, you must then compute the Rank Score of your character. The two operative skills are the scholar and command skills. Note the following formula.

scholar + command =   Rank Code

For example, if your scholar is 3D+1 and your command is 2D+2 , you would roll 5D+3, or 6D (6D is 5D and an additional 1D for the 3 pips). Note, how you ALWAYS break your extra pips down until it resembles a normal die code, i.e. no pips greater than 2.

Once you have computed your Rank Code, you will then roll your Rank Code to get your Rank Score. Once you have your rank score, the GM will assign you a rank based upon your rank score.
