What exactly are Courting Murder rules?
Courting Murder rules are the best rules available for 'live action' gaming. They don't require any of the strange game mechanics seen in other games (e.g. holding your hands in front of your chest so you are 'invisible'). Why? Because invisibility does not work in live action games. If you and I are talking about something in character, and a third person is standing next to us 'invisible', no matter how good we are at role playing, we simply will not have the same conversation we would have were that person not there. So invisibility is not allowed in games using Courting Murder rules. For similar reasons, picking pockets, clairevoyance, claireaudience, mind reading, and similar abilities do not exist.
One other problem with live action games is death. What happens when someone else achieves their goal in a game by killing you, but there's still two hours of the game left? With Courting Murder rules, the answer is simple: you become a ghost, and continue playing. In fact, the word of a ghost is taken as evidence in murder trials, making it much harder to murder someone in the game. (NOTE: There are NO Ghost Rules in play for Christmas Truce!)
