1998
2002
2003
Our own members have always designed the general layout of the shirt, and although we have used with permission other
people's artwork (see 2002), the final layout has in the past been produced by BYOV members.
But for the first year in Indy, we decided to improve our lot in life. Tom drew up a preliminary sketch for t-shirt design,
and we sent it to Offworld Designs for production...it was not a
mistake. The final artwork was dazzling, and the airbrushing was incredible. Click the thumbnail below for a larger
image.
You can also see Tom's preliminary sketch. Keep in mind this was a 5 minute
drawing on a Wacom tablet, just to give the artist an idea of what we had in mind. Ray at Offworld hit the nail on the head,
didn't he?
2004
We've got another shirt from Offworld in the works again for 2004, but of course we can't reveal it here...
We have, in the past, decided to commemorate the coming of Gen Con with official Gen Con T-Shirts. You've got to go back all the way to 1998 to find our first Gen Con t-shirt. It's still one of our favorites, though, and you'll still see us wearing it proudly that weekend.
You need to see the back and the front to get the whole impact.
We don't always play fantasy RPGs. A few of our members are heavily into Battlelords of the
23rd Century and other science fiction games. For 2002, we decided to acknowledge that committment with our shirt
design. The artwork here is by Mike Oscadciw, chief artist and co-owner of SSDC, the makers of Battlelords.
Officially there have
been 5 styles of shirts, but the 1999 shirts weren't a very good production, and have fallen into myth and legend.
Following the success of the 2003 shirts, we once again turned to Offworld designs for our Gen Con tees. Tom again drew up a preliminary sketch, and Ray at Offworld nailed it again. We got a lot of positive comments about these shirts that year.
